Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar was established in January 1997 for the promotion of technical education and development. The University has under its affiliation 40 Engineering colleges, 56 Management, 17 colleges of pharmacy, 6 Architecture 2 Hotel Management and 13 colleges of forces during Medical Laboratory Technology & IT disciplines. Punjab is one of the most prosperous in India since independence through the green revolution and white, but this crop was due to the lack of affordable housing and technical staff and lack of technology upgradation in industry of the state connected delay in comparison with other countries such as Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.



To overcome this problem of shortage of technical manpower and pioneering a new era of industrial development, comparable to international standards, the Government of Punjab Punjab Technical University (PTU) in 1997. The university has been entrusted with the responsibility to develop the next generation of technical manpower that can spearhead the industrial development of the state. Punjab Technical University was established on grooming for the future engineers, managers and surveys.



Today, approximately 141 branches PTUs engineering, management, pharmacy, hotel management and architecture colleges in the state that have been approved by the Council of India 's Technical Education (AICTE).
