Founded in 1911, the Central Bank of India was the first Indian commercial bank wholly owned and managed by Indians. The creation of the Bank was the ultimate fulfillment of the dream of Sir Sorabji Pochkhanawala, founder of the Bank. Sir Pherozesha Mehta was the first president of a real "Swadesh Bank. In fact, the extent of pride felt by Sir Sorabji Pochkhanawala he proclaims that the Central Bank of India as the property of the nation and the country. He added that the Central Bank of India on the lives of people of faith and sees himself as the people's own bank.

1994 Quick Check Collection Service (CCQ) and Express Service is established to the rapid recovery of the checkpoint.

In addition, in accordance with the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India and the Government of India, the Central Bank plays an increasingly active in promoting the key thrust areas of agriculture, small industries, as well as medium and large industries. The Bank is also a number of independent programs to promote employment among young people.

New Initiatives / News / Practices


Operating income for the bank rose 13.28% to Rs. 1436.74 crore in 2008-09 on operating income of Rs. 1268.30 crore in 2007-08.


The net profit of the Bank has increased in 2008-09 to Rs 571.24 crore up to 3.83% on net profit of Rs 550.16 crore in 2007-08.


Net income per employee in March 2009 rose to Rs 1.71 lacs to Rs.1.56 LACS in March 2008.


The Bank has launched a special housing loans in January 2009 to 8.5% interest for five years. The rate was reduced to 8% for a period of one year.


A deposit scheme for children up to age 12 was launched in the "Bal Bhavishya Cent" arrangement with an insurance wrap in December 2008.


During the current year, the Bank Visa Gold and Visa Platinum card.


Bank has received "Best Education Loan Provider" and the second prize for "Best Home Loan Provider" by Outlook Money NDTV Profit Awards 2008 ".


Bank ranks first among all partners of Banc of insurance Life Insurance Company of India.
