Banaras Hindu University Overview

Banaras Hindu University is one of the first in the country in terms of academic output and research. The university has two campuses, 3 institutes, 16 faculties, 140 departments, 4 increased by 4 interdisciplinary centers and schools. The university is making its mark nationally and internationally in certain border areas of the sciences, social sciences, technology, medicine and agriculture etc.
A university can only grow successfully as a research and education in order to knit together - one without the other is incomplete. Therefore, we ensured the development of an enabling environment for collaborative learning, exposure to international best practices and promote innovation and creativity.
BHU now nearly twenty thousand students, including 2500 researchers and 650 students from 34 countries under one roof, engaged in various educational programs to this campus and the new Rajiv Gandhi South Campus. These are some of the brightest young minds in the country and abroad, participating in the university, after a rigorous All-India entrance test.
We are aware that the rapid pace of development in the country, awareness and expectations. Higher education institutions have helped to ensure equality of opportunity, which is the essence of participatory democracy. This will not only create a sense of alienation and neglect in the regions lagging behind, but also to prevent the migration of these areas.
BHU, the Rajiv Gandhi South Campus Barkachha about 75 km south-west of Varanasi in 2760 acres of land. The first academic session began with six 2.006-07 programs increased by more than 25 in the current session. This campus is emerging as a hub for education, training and skills for development of youth entrepreneurship, women and marginalized groups in society in the region of Mirzapur and adjoining rear of the Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and north-west Madhya Pradesh. Hostel and residential

There are 60 hostels (17 girls Hostel), with a capacity of 9128 students (7003 boys and 2125 girls) on campus. The university provides housing for teachers and staff. The number of residential areas are 538 and 678 respectively for education and non.teaching staff. In addition, the University has 4 rooms and a house transit to offer guests.
